I was pondering the story of Peter failing to catch fish all night but succeeding during the day after Jesus instructed him to launch into the deep and let down his net for a catch. (Luke 5:1-11) This account offers valuable lessons.
Hannah declared in 1 Samuel 2:9, For by strength shall no man prevail. Additionally, Zechariah 4:6 reminds us, It's not by power or might, but by the Spirit of God.
Despite Peter's expertise and toil throughout the night, he caught nothing. However, acting on Jesus' words during the day, without toil or human effort, yielded a miraculous catch.
When Jesus is involved and you follow His instructions, miracles happen effortlessly, beyond your strength or human effort.
When Jesus instructed Peter to cast his net into the deep waters for a catch, Peter replied, Lord, we've worked hard all night and caught nothing, but at Your word, I will let down the net.
Peter's actions were driven solely by obedience, not hope of catching fish. After all, having caught nothing at night, the odds of catching any during the day seemed slim.
Disregard every reason why it won't work and hold onto the one reason why it will – Jesus' promise.
The promises of God are 'yes' and 'amen' (2 Corinthians 1:20), and no word from God will return to Him unfulfilled (Isaiah 55:11).
How it will happen isn't for you to figure out; your part is to trust and obey.
What God says will happen, will happen, regardless of your circumstances or situation.
Even when all odds are against you, if Jesus said it, it will come to pass.
Trust God, not your abilities, and follow His instructions without questioning or doubting.
