LOOK UP!
A newly discovered comet called “Tsuchinshan–ATLAS” is shining brightly in the evening sky.
Along with the brightness, as the comet makes its closest approach to Earth and crosses its orbital plane on October 13–14, it is expected to develop a rare and prominent anti-tail in the opposite direction, giving the appearance of a giant sword or scepter:
But there is more to this month’s celestial visitor than its striking appearance. For the following seven reasons, it is considered a sign of Jesus’ coming.
1. NAME
The name Tsuchinshan means “Purple Mountain.” Since the color purple signifies kingship in the Bible, and mountains represent kingdoms, the name Purple Mountain evokes the Kingdom of God.
2. DAYS OF AWE
Tsuchinshan–ATLAS enters the constellation Virgo, the virgin or bride, on the Feast of Trumpets (Oct. 3–4), and exits the sign on the Day of Atonement (Oct. 13–14). The kingly comet thus visits the bride during the Days of Awe, the ten-day period of repentance and introspection that separates the two festivals.
3. SOLAR SIGN COINCIDENCE
As Tsuchinshan–ATLAS entered Virgo on the Feast of Trumpets, the most powerful solar flare in seven years—a rare and massive X9—erupted from the Sun, triggering radio blackouts and brilliant auroras at unusually low latitudes across the globe. Adding to the coincidence, the second most powerful flare of 2024—an X8.7—occurred exactly 144 days earlier on May, 14, the birthday of the modern State of Israel. Jesus said there would be “signs in the sun” (Luke 21:25). These powerful and timely solar eruptions certainly qualify.
4. CLOSEST APPROACH
At its nearest approach on the Day of Atonement, Tsuchinshan–ATLAS will pass by Earth at a distance of 44 million miles, or 70 million kilometers. The numbers 44 and 70 signify a “sealing,” “redemption,” and a prophetic culmination in Scripture (Rev. 7; Jer. 29:10; Dan. 9).
5. RING ECLIPSE ANNIVERSARY
Tsuchinshan–ATLAS’s nearest approach on the Day of Atonement marks the one-year anniversary of the ‘wedding ring’ eclipse in Virgo, on October 14, 2023: https://tinyurl.com/a9dvt4x5
Corresponding to the bridal theme, the path of the eclipse exited the US at the coastal city Corpus Christi, a name that means ‘Body of Christ.’
6. JUDGMENT SIGN
Since comets have long been viewed as harbingers of judgment, it is fitting that Tsuchinshan–ATLAS develops its scepter or sword-like appearance on the Day of Atonement, a.k.a. the ‘Day of Judgment.’ Some believe that the comet–judgment connection originates from Noah’s Flood.
When the “fountains of the great deep burst forth,” ejecting a mixture of mud and water at supersonic speeds from fractures in the earth’s crust (Gen. 7:11), much of it escaped the atmosphere, sending giant muddy snowballs (comets) on random and far-flung orbits, from which they periodically return. The Flood-connection explains why comets are considered judgment signs, and adds a layer of meaning to Jesus’ statement, “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man” (Matt. 24:27).
7. JUBILEE SIGN
Tsuchinshan–ATLAS’s fly by on the Day of Atonement occurs in a calculated Jubilee, the biblical year of redemption and judgment (Lev. 25; Isa. 61:2; 63:4). This is significant because the Day of Atonement is when the Jubilee is declared, and is associated with the onset of Judgment Day (Lev. 25:8–10; Joel 1:13–15).
SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION
The super bright comet now visible in the evening sky:
• Has a name that evokes kingship or the Kingdom of God.
• Passes through Virgo between the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement.
• Arrived in Virgo as the most powerful solar flare in seven years erupted, and 144 days after the second most powerful flare, on Israel’s birthday.
• Exits Virgo on the anniversary of the ‘wedding ring’ eclipse, the path of which exited the US via Corpus Christi, or ‘Body of Christ.’
• Forms an anti-tail that gives the appearance of a scepter or sword, as it passes by earth on the Day of Atonement.
• Passes by earth in a calculated Jubilee, the year of redemption and judgment that is declared on the Day of Atonement.
Scripture says the heavens speak to us:
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge” (Ps. 19:1, 2).
The message of this month’s cometary visitor is that Judgment Day is near for those who have not accepted Jesus’ atoning sacrifice. If you have not yet done so, call on His name and believe that He is the Son of God who died for your sins and was raised from the dead, and you will be saved (Rom. 10:13).
6. The theory that comets were produced by the Flood is detailed by Walt Brown in his book, ‘In the Beginning, Compelling Evidence for Creation and the Flood.’
